Healthy Dehydrator Candies- Quick and Easy

Dehydrating fruits and veggies can be fun and easy. If you're a raw vegan, dehydrating foods is a fun way to feel like you are having cooked food, even though it's still considered raw. If you have kids and you don't want to pack them those high fructose, corn syrup candies, we have just the thing!

Or, if you are someone who loves to snack on candies, than fret no more!

Don't be turned off by dehydrating, you can still create dehydrated food in your oven if you don't have a dehydrator. Set your oven below 200 degrees F; basically warm setting, place desired fruit or veggie on a sheet and cook anywhere from 4-8 hours, depending on the water content of your fruit or veggie.

Roz shows you how to make Strawberry Fruit Roll-Up, Cinnamon Apple Slices and Kiwi Sour Candies. All which can take roughly the same time to dehydrate. Though, the Kiwi Sour Candies take longer... you want them on the chewier side to create that chewy gummy texture you know and love.

You will need:

STRAWBERRY FRUIT-ROLL UP:

2 pints fresh Strawberries; not frozen and preferably organic.

1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

1 tsp. Coconut Sugar *Only if your strawberries are on the sour side.

In your high speed blender or food processor, add strawberries, cinnamon and coconut sugar and blend till smooth. Pour mixture on to a non-stick, shiny sheet (like the ones that comes with the dehydrator). You will need two sheets. Smooth out evenly and leaving the edges thicker and rounded. This way the edges don't dry up faster than the centre. Dehydrate at 135 degrees F for 4-6 hours. Check after 4 hours. CINNAMON APPLE SLICES:

Any Apple will do... Your choice! And use as many as you'd like.

Cinnamon to sprinkle

Slice apples thinly (approx. 3 or 4 mm wide) and core them using a coring tool (or a lip balm lid like Roz!)

Place on tray. Sprinkle desired amount of cinnamon on top. Dehydrate at 135 degrees F for 4-6 hours. Check after 4 hours. KIWI SOUR CANDIES:

Kiwis- As many as you'd like

Maple Syrup to lightly brush on top

Slice kiwis to same thickness as apples and place on sheet. Sweeten them (cause' these babies get sour!) by lightly brushing them with maple syrup. Dehydrate at 135 degrees F for 4-6 hours. Check after 4 hours. *Half way through, be sure to rotate the trays so that everything dehydrates evenly.

*To keep; though you will demolish them, in an air tight container on your counter. For the fruit roll-up, roll with plastic wrap so you can easily peel what you want.
